District
Elder Melvin L. Brown was born and reared in Canton,
Ohio. He was blessed to attend Bethel Apostolic Church
under the pastorate of the late Bishop Robert McMurray
in Canton, Ohio as a young child. In 1974 he was baptized
in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost at Greater
Bethel Apostolic Church where the pastor was the late
District Elder Ralph M. Byrd. He was called to the ministry
in 1976 and ordained in 1978 with the Ohio District
Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in
Zanesville, Ohio.
After
15 years of ministry, during that time of serving faithfully
as the Assistant Pastor to District Elder Byrd, in Canton,
Ohio for 8 ½ years and evangelizing full time
on the field for the P.A.W., the Lord elevated him to
the office of Pastor in Ashtabula, Ohio where he served
for 9 years until being called and elected as the pastor
of Cathedral of Praise in Lorain, Ohio in 1998. He has
served as spiritual leader and the pastor of Cathedral
of Praise Worship & Family Center of Lorain, Ohio
for almost 12 years. He has demonstrated his God-given
gifts, talents, and love in winning souls for Christ
from the beginning of his ministry.
District
Elder Brown is a faithful member of the Ohio District
Council, where he has served on the Credential committee,
the Ohio District Council Board of Directors, the Assistant
Treasurer and the Pulpit committee. District Elder Brown
has also served on the Ohio State Board of Battered
Wives in addition to serving on the Board of Directors
of Parish Nursing for Community Health Partners Hospital
of Lorain. He is also licensed by the State of Ohio
as a health and life insurance agent. Presently District
Elder Brown is the elected Vice-Chairperson of the Ohio
District Council under the Leadership of the Diocesan,
Bishop Paul A. Bowers.
District Elder Brown and Lady Rosalee Brown will celebrate
41 years of marriage on December 7, 2009. This union
was blessed with 2 sons, Melvin D. and Timothy J. Brown.
They have 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
